It’s also one of the very yummy, moist and melt in mouth recipes I ever shared here. I can confidently and proudly say that it’s everything you’d hope for from a home made cake, including incredibly moist and tender, with a fantastic home made chocolate buttercream icing/ frosting.
It’s very moist, very chocolate also can be transformed to dark cake recipe by simply using dark chocolates while making the batter. I prefer simple easy cake recipe as my kids are too young for the slight bitter taste of dark chocolates. This cake recipe is just a snap to make and best baked the day before serving. When this Home Made cake comes out of the oven, the tops of the layers are actually shiny and slightly crackled almost like a brownie. That’s how fudgy it is. You could totally have fun and get creative with flavors and fillings here as well. Maybe add some orange zest to the cake & frosting.
I frosted this cake with my favorite chocolate frosting and I recommend you do the same (it’s so good!), but for those of you participating in the recipe challenge you do not have to use this recipe, feel free to use your own favorite frosting and I listed several other options in the recipe notes. Easy Moist Cake Recipe
I have many recipes on my site for chocolate cake and most of them use coffee. Coffee will enhance the flavor of the chocolate, not overpower it. If your recipe is good (and this one is) you will not taste the coffee at all, you will only taste the richest chocolate cake you have ever had.
This cake recipe utilizes brewed hot coffee in the first steps and then cooled coffee in the second part. Some recipes will call for instant coffee crystals or espresso coffee. Perfect for birthdays, this is a great recipe for an easy, foolproof easy Moist chocolate cake. It’s moist and fudgy and will keep well for 4–5 days.
Let’s talk about frosting for our super yummy cake. This is a basic Chocolate Frosting done right. I used dutch process cocoa so that my frosting would be a bit darker, but you can certainly use regular unsweetened cocoa powder. (it will be lighter in color).
The home made chocolate frosting will keep well in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to two weeks, or in the freezer for up to three months. Remove the frosting from the fridge about an hour before you’re ready to frost your cake to allow it to come to room temperature. It compliments so many delicious cakes and cupcakes.
